 Improving operations and products.

National Starch Papermaking Innovation has productivity and performance solutions for all of your needs.

Tissue/Towel
We offer a wide variety of wet-end starches that provide a wide range of
mill benefits: strength, speed, drainage, retention and fiber substitution.
  • EcoPro™ water-soluble cationic starches
  • CATO® series general-purpose wet-end cationic starches
  • OptiPLUS® series of amphoteric starches for superior drainage and good strength development
  • RediBOND® series of liquid ready-for-use starches
  • OptiPRO® series of high-charged wet-end starch
  • RediPRO® a unique nature-based liquid polymer

Board
We provide a variety of starches for board and recycle grades that offer mill benefits such as strength, speed, drainage, retention and fiber substitution.
  • EcoPro™ water soluble cationic starches
  • CATO® series general purpose wet-end cationic starches
  • MicroCAT® series of high molecular weight starches for microparticle retention aid
  • OptiBOND® series of specialty starches to provide higher strength (STIFI, Mullen, Concorra, Ring Crush) performance
  • OptiPLUS® series of amphoteric for superior drainage and good strength development
Uncoated Paper
Our wet-end starches provide a wide range of mill benefits: strength, speed, drainage, retention and fiber substitution.
  • CATO® series of dent corn, waxy maize, tapioca and potato starches for drainage, retention, strength development and ASA emulsification
  • MICROCAT® and OptiPRO® series were developed to be used in microparticle systems. These specialty starches help mills run at higher levels of filler without sacrificing strength. They also enhance sheet optical, while reducing linting and dusting.
  • RediPRO® is the natural liquid polymer for better drainage and speed. These products improve wet-end additives efficiencies and also reduce reliance on synthetic ingredients.
Coated Paper
Our wet-end starches that provide a wide range of mill benefits: strength, speed, drainage, retention and fiber substitution.
  • National’s OptiPRO® and CATO® performance starch products deliver key benefits in the paper mill and in your customers’ press rooms.
  • In the mill: Our OptiPRO and CATO starches can help coated paper producers achieve strength levels beyond expected mill capabilities. These starches yield higher surface and internal strength, as measured by internal (Scott) bond, IGT and Mullen burst. They also help the mill increase the efficiencies of its operations through improved retention, drainage and printability. You can leverage these benefits in several ways: introduce higher ash levels, use higher levels of mechanical fibers or save even more through coating formulation changes.
  • In the press room: When you formulate with National Starch’s performance starches, you deliver to your customers a higher level of printability. They’ll also find there is reduced linting, more uptime and greater efficiencies in the press room.
Newsprint
Our wide variety of wet-end starches offer these mill benefits: lint reduction, strength, speed, drainage, retention, fiber substitution and increased filler content.
  • CATO® series general-purpose wet-end cationic starches
  • MicroCAT® series of high molecular weight starch for microparticle retention aid
  • OptiBOND® series of specialty starches to reduce lint and provide higher strength
  • OptiPLUS® series of amphoteric for superior drainage and good strength development
  • RediBOND® series of liquid ready-for-use starches
  • OptiPRO® series of high-charged wet-end starches
  • RediPRO® a unique nature-based liquid polymer
